Product Description
The MPQ6533 is a gate driver IC designed for automotive DC motor driver applications. It can drive six N-channel power MOSFETs to drive DC motors or other loads. The device integrates a low-dropout (LDO) regulator to generate the gate drive voltage for the lower MOSFETs (LS-FETs).
A charge pump is also provided to generate the drive voltage for the external N-channel MOSFETs, used to provide reverse battery protection. The upper gate drive is generated by a bootstrap capacitor and internal charge pump, allowing 100% duty cycle operation.
The device uses an internal amplifier to measure the voltage drop across the LS-FETs, thus eliminating the need for a shunt resistor to measure current. Internal safety features include configurable overcurrent protection (OCP), adjustable dead-time control, undervoltage lockout (UVLO) protection, and overtemperature shutdown protection. It is available in a QFN-32 (5mmx5mm) package with a thermal pad.
